With YouTube Premium, you can watch millions of videos without interruptions by ads before and during a video, including video overlay ads. You will also not see third-party banner ads and search ads. You may still see branding or promotions embedded in the content by the creator and promotional links, shelves and features in and around the content that are added or enabled by the creator. These links, shelves and features could be for their website, merchandise, a membership to their channel, event tickets, or other related destinations they are promoting. You can download videos to watch offline using the YouTube or YouTube Music and watch auto-downloaded videos in the YouTube Kids app if these apps are available in your location and you're signed in with your YouTube Premium account. You can view your downloaded videos in the Library or Account tabs. To remove a downloaded video, tap Downloaded and select Remove. On certain mobile devices, videos and playlists will be downloaded only when your device is on a specific connection type - a Wi-Fi network is typically the default.

Good news if you're paying for a YouTube Premium subscription every month: you can now download videos for offline playback at resolutions of p, up from the previous limit of p. The change was first spotted by Android Police , with the Full HD p option appearing when YouTube Premium users try and save videos to their phones. You might not see the option yet though — apparently the feature is being slowly rolled out across the YouTube apps for iOS and Android. Make sure you're running the latest version of the app before attempting a download. Alongside never having to watch adverts, offline downloads are one of the best perks of YouTube Premium, and you should be able to see the difference on phones with bigger screens and sharper resolutions. There had been rumors as far back as February that YouTube was planning to upgrade the maximum resolution for downloads — but now it appears its engineers are finally getting around to it.
The service provides ad-free access to content across the service, as well as access to premium YouTube Originals programming produced in collaboration with the site's creators, downloading videos and background playback of videos on mobile devices, and access to the YouTube Music music streaming service. Music Key offered ad-free playback of music videos from participating labels hosted on YouTube , as well as background and offline playback of music videos on mobile devices from within the YouTube app.
